My coaching philosophy is based on the belief that every individual deserves to create the life they desire. I welcome each client with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to providing a nonjudgemental, neurodiversity affirming space that respects the power of awe, playfulness, and collaboration. As a systems thinker, I draw from experience in behavior change, evaluation and learning, strategy development, reflective practice, and always, a sense of humor to inform our sessions.
Together, we will pay attention to points of excessive friction, or misalignment, in your life, reflect on when you may be overwhelmed by the idea of “shoulds”, and focus on exploring what you need to live a proactively authentic life.
A starting place may be looking for someone with specific knowledge of and experience with supporting clients around both the challenges and beauty of life with ADHD. It is important to find a coach with whom you can develop a good rapport who enables you to feel comfortable authentically sharing your experiences. Coaches should demonstrate professionalism, and so they can understand whether or not you choose to work with them. The most important aspect of the decision making is finding the right coach for you!
I work with adult clients from all walks of life who are committed to growth and learning. Some of my clients are seeking career balance, while others are looking to name and clarify goals, or even to find a greater sense of contentment or peace in life.
I have a bachelors degree in Anthropology, masters degrees in Public Health, and International Peace & Conflict Transformation, and more than a decade working with mission-driven professional service organizations. This background afforded me valuable insight into change from the individual to the systems level. My career transition to coaching coincided with a desire to build upon my transferable skills while leaning into my professional and personal strengths.
I received my coach training with the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) because I saw a need from neurodivergent-identifying individuals for more experienced professionals who will meet and accept them from wherever they must begin. I am excited for ongoing professional development to continuously expand my capability to productively serve my clients.
No, an official diagnosis is not necessary for coaching. While my training and experience is in working with clients with ADHD specifically, if my approach resonates with you feel free to reach out!
No, I am not a clinical professional and I am not a diagnostician. I cannot make a diagnosis, but I will meet you where you are and work with you to finding a path that meets your needs. Should you wish for me, as your coach, to speak with a third party (e.g., professional service provider, teacher, medical or mental health provider, boss or manager, significant other, etc.), you may request and sign an Information Release Form and clearly communicate the purpose for this interaction to me before the engagement.
Accepting how your unique brain processes the world is transformative. I will not offer guarantees that coaching will "fix" you. You do not need to be fixed. You are not broken, nor are you a problem to be solved. I promise to bring my knowledge and experience to our collaboration and venture with you to reveal what you need in place to get you where you want to go.
To share a relatable example, I am left handed, and found myself somewhat shocked the first time I used a left-handed bread knife. Suddenly, I could manage to uniformly cut entire slices with the same thickness from top to bottom, and I did it with ease! I learned that slicing bread did not need to be such a crumbly, frustrating struggle. Though this story is a specific and narrow instance, it enabled me to glimpse what could be. In this case, I had created my own conditions for success. That is what I want to embark on to find with you - what are your conditions for success?
No, coaching is a distinct field. Coaching may appear in a similar "landscape" of support, but in the way that a tree is different from a rock formation or a pond, these are all discrete professional areas that aide clients to move toward different types of outcomes.
